Road trip update!

K and I went on another road trip end of Feb - this time to Madurai/Rameshwaram/Dhanushkodi. Tamil Nadu had dream like roads.. no kidding!! We reached Madurai well before our expected time of arrival... and crashed for a bit. First stop in the evening was of course the Meenakshi Temple. I don't really have words to describe how beautiful this temple was(is). The architecture was brilliant. It was calm, peaceful and serene. The lights on all 4 towers were lit up and made a pretty picture. We revisited the temple next day early morning, this time we actually prayed ;-) Breakfast was at our very own Murugan Idli Kadai, K says this was the original.. so there's no way am leaving Madurai without going there! It did live upto its expectations.. great stuff! We then drove to Rameshwaram which took us about 3 hours.. you know somehow I've always thought that TN was not too green. You will be surprised.. the drive was so pretty, with green fields all around.. Sigh. Made a quick dash in to the Rameshwaram temple, didn't do the dip in the holy water, we decided we would come back later in our lives to cleanse ourselves :P
Then the drive to Dhanushkodi began.. Man this is one awesome scenic drive. We cross the Pamban bridge, and after a point all you can see is blue water on both sides... Picture perfect!!! Supposedly the water gets really rough on one side, but I guess it was a low tide that day so both sides were calm. Once we reached Dhanushkodi, K said he would drive me along the coast on the sand. Wowie. That was one exciting ride, the offroading began and went on and on and on.... until we reached a point which was literally No Man's Land! Just a narrow strip of land, and clear blue water on both sides.... we played in the beach(es) and had fun. We waited and waited for one thing though.. and here it was finally...
The sunset!! One of the most beautiful ones I've ever seen... Totally worth all that time we waited... Good job, K! :-)
We then started our drive back to Madurai, was quite an adventure.. we reached quite late that night and we were super tired. Next day was all about doing the usual touristy stuff.. went to the Madurai Palace which was again beautiful!
I know, so pretty na? Well well, we had a good time, Saturday night we went to the Taj Madurai which is on a slight hilly terrain.. we could see the entire city from the lawn... we drank(thats the purpose u see!) and ate and chilled out in general. Woke up late the next day and we started our drive back to Chennai. Boo. Me thinks road trips must be never ending. They are so much fun! Well here are a few more snaps I could steal from K's album.. I must say they don't do full justice to the actual picture it presents.. but nevertheless, good job K. U and your Canon are a super combo! :-)

Warning : MUSH Alert!

I wanted to go all out for our first Valentines after our wedding. So here's what I did
---Went to the nearest store and got lots of stuff in red -- streamers, candles, crepe papers, glitter, balloons, a huge heart(!) etc. Got some lovely red roses from the road side! Also picked up a cute card and a sooper gift for K! It was a miniature version of his Honda CBR 600 F!! Boy, I don't know why but I was so excited to see it.. coz I could imagine the joy on his face! :)
---Came home and started doing up our living room.. I put up the streamers, placed the candles on our centre table, laid out the roses, threw some rose petals, lit up some incense to make the room smell heavenly.

--Made a cute "K" with the crepe paper... don't even ask! I was super excited and went a little crazy!

--- What's a Valentines day without a cheesy heart, right? :P

--Around 7:30 I called him to find out where he was and for my luck he was like 10 minutes away from home. I quickly turned off the lights, lit up the candles and waited (im)patiently at the door with my phone camera on! I was all set :-)

---- K arrives, rings the bell.. I just leave the door open, In he walks with a stupid smirk on his face!! Hehehe. Was cute!! Totally worth all my effort, I'd say!

That was not all. Next morning, when he was out on his walk, I quickly left the gift and the card on the table. He loved it.. Plus I made uthapam/tomato thokku for him for the very first time.. he was bugging me about it for a long time and what better than this day, right? ;-) We went out for dinner and he gave me a gift voucher from Brass tracks.. yay, more clothes!! Awesome day in all. Hope u guys had a fun Valentines as well :-)

Random updates

Off late, I've received wedding invitations via Facebook. Ok. Pause.
Hmm. Not completely against it, but still not too much to my liking. Now don't get me wrong here. I'm not saying I expect a physical invite or anything like that.. a simple e-mail with the scanned copy of an invite can't be thaaatt hard to send, correct? Somehow it gives it a personal touch. When I got married, I ensured I sent it to each person separately, especially since a lot of my friends with either away from Chennai or abroad. I would have hated to create an "event" on FB and invite my friends! But ok two weeks ago, I received a wedding invitation via SMS!! Ok. DRAMATIC PAUSE now. What is the world getting to these days? Was I expected to show up at the wedding? Or maybe it was just a mere formality? And the venue just gave the name of the hotel, I had no clue where it was located. Yes it was in Chennai only. Oh well, not like I was close to the person. I mean not super close... coz if it were that category, then I wouldn't even expect an invitation, right? ;-)
In other news, a Minister in Karnataka was caught watching porn while the Assembly session was on!! Rotfl!!  These politicians are our biggest entertainers, I tell u!
I am keeping my fingers crossed for something, I will not reveal anything here until I get a confirmation!!
My bestie, M is coming back to town... for good... let the fun begin! :-)

Welcome to the family, D!

Tonight was very special. My little sissy Sne got engaged to D! :) Was a grand ceremony, well attended by both sides of the family, lots of friends and well wishers. The wedding is only in August, so we can aram se plan and rock the wedding! Sne looked super pretty.. was a new person in front of all of us because Sne is such a typical tom boy that we've never seen her so dressed up! She was absolutely radiant :)
And welcome D, glad you've come into our family. We look forward to lots of fun times with you!
Congratulations love birds =)

Hope you like my new template, too bad if you don't. I don't care. I am bored as hell and pissed off and came straight here. The pink was too cheerful for my liking and hence the deep red.
Just had a terrible fight with K. Sunday evening, he said he was "stepping out". Good for me. I don't care when he comes back, I am not making dinner.

How has the new year 2012 been treating ya’ll? J
Well mine has gotten off to a pretty good start! My uncle from Boston had come down and hence there have been so many get togethers and parties and what not! I remember the times as a kid when he would come down every Christmas(those days America was like “Oh God he’s from AMERICA, unlike these days where there’s not too much bhav!) But anyway, so we all used to get super excited when he would come and it was like Santa Claus is bringing us all lovely goodies!!
One of his best gifts that I have ever received from him was a pencil set..he got all the kids sets of pencils in lovely colors with our names engraved on it!!! As a kid I would take it to school and show off so much because nobody ever had one nor even seen one! So I was so proud and I still remember I would never sharpen my pencil fearing I might run out of it! so last evening we had a get together to felicitate him and we all took turns speaking and surprisingly all my other cousins remembered the pencil as well! J

So in my speech, I told him please bring back those pencils for us! I would love for my kids to own that :P He said the lady that was doing it passed away but that he would check to see if it could be done elsewhere. Yay! J Small pleasures in life!
In my speech, I did mention the lovely times I’ve had at Boston, I remember him showing me around MIT, Harvard, Plymouth, buying me lovely Greek pizzas, Ben & Jerry ice cream and what not!
That brought an end to the family jamboree(as K affectionately calls it), starting with the Christmas party, the New Year picnic, the get togethers... Gosh, I loved it!
K is back in town after a trip to Dubai... Jealous! He went on a Conference at work and ended up bringing me a bag full of Bath & Body Works.. Now thats a good boy, I really have trained him well :-)
More exciting news,  well now that the news is pretty much out, I’d say this here.. My little sis Sne is getting engaged this month end!! D, is a super sweet, super nice boy from Pune and I’m really excited for her!!! So that’s the next event I’m gearing up for!
