I've missed this space sorely!!!

I really and truly did! I viewed my stats now and I am shaking my head in shame - 6 posts in the full year? ONLY? Unbelievable!!
Considering how much I love ranting and venting and sharing my life out here, it does come as a surprise to me. It really has been a super busy year.
Work has really taken a strange turn. By strange I mean, I am not really sure how and where it is headed. I still like my job but there is just so much drama going on amongst the top management, that I feel tired being pulled into their arguments and what not. I want to do what is best for my people but unfortunately, it is being viewed very differently. I am constantly under so much stress. Nobody is really sure of what is going on and how long this is going to last. Anyway, I will not bore you about my troubles at work.
What I will instead focus on is something exciting that happened in October. The hubster and I took off on a vacation to the beautiful country of Turkey! It was a really random choice of destination but we totally loved every minute of it! Istanbul is such a vibrant and bustling place. I would totally love to go back and visit, someday. I shall not do justice by merely writing about how beautiful it was. I promise to write a long post on our entire trip with some pictures for you to feast on.
Another exciting event happened on 21st Nov, Friday. We bought home a new family member - A beautiful Volkswagen Vento!! She is a real beauty. I totally loved it the minute I saw it. K saw it at a dealer's place last week and was hooked. The sad part is our lovely Swift baby, which we absolutely loved, had to be given away considering we have no space to park her in our building. Will miss ya!!
But I am so looking forward to some nice getaways in our new car. Welcome home :) I am really and truly happy for K. He has been looking for a car for almost a year now and just couldn't make up his mind. He wanted to upgrade to a Sedan and I couldn't be more thrilled for him!! I am glad all that waiting has paid off :)

Chugging along..

Life has been chugging along quietly the last few months. Nothing major going on. Which probably explains the lack of updates here. I'm just working during the week, working harder during the weekends(don't ask what I do but there just seems to be some task or the other). July was a great month socially. Ashwin, my younger brother tied the knot with Mythreyi(Mittu as she is affectionately called) and I couldn't be happier for him. Mittu is cool, sweet and good fun the few times I've hung out with her. They make a fab couple and I wish them all the happiness in this world :) It also meant lots of tamasha - we had a kick ass Sangeet function where I got everyone dancing again... Chikni Chameli, Gandi Baat, Tune Marri Entriyan and the likes... And the finale was the "Happy Song" to which I had the entire family grooving.. It was so much fun! And we were well appreciated by the crowd.. Fun stuff! Of course, this event wouldn't have been half as much fun without Sne & Dee who came from Pune.. We had an epic pre wedding partay chez moi, where a not so sober Ashwin Maplae wanted some egg biryani at a random 2 am. And believe or not, we did not disappoint him.. Topsee was TOP class! We had the time of our lives!! I truly love ma familia!
The reception and the wedding of course went by in a jiffy and before we knew it, everybody was ready to head home, back to their respective lives. How I hate that phase. Sigh.

Work has been ok ok. Just the usual mundane stuff. Nothing too exciting. But nothing to complain about either(thankfully). We had a fun event at work titled Ethnicity at Q Way where we got different teams to represent various States across India. How we laughed and cheered.. a good stress buster indeed!

What am I looking forward to next? My MIL's 60th birthday bash, which is just around the corner. K and I have decided to go "all the way" and invite lots of people and make it an event for her to remember. Fingers crossed that everything goes on smoothly :) I'm currently listening to Aashiqui 2 songs and I don't think I'll ever ever get bored of this album.. Totally in love with most of the songs!

2014 so far

We are in March already? Where did the first 3 months go? Gosh. It truly has been one busy start to the year. Work has pretty much taken up most of my time. K has also been super busy with an engagement project at work which is due end of April. We barely see each other these days. He leaves home around 8:30 am, I leave around 9:30 and I am back around 8 pm, he is back even later, sometimes as late as 9 pm. We just have time to eat and crash and start all over again the next day. In short, 2014 has been very uneventful. A little boring too. My boss told me that I am not allowed to take any leave this year. Err. Yes I agree I took off on a 10 day trip last October but hey in my defense, it was planned way before I took up my new job. Anyway, no point in cribbing. The good thing is, I love my job. It involves meeting a lot of people, it keeps me going, I get a lot of freedom in terms of decision making, I feel like my bosses place a lot of trust in me.. All these make me feel good! Yes I do have my rough patches here and there, but hey whats a job without a challenge, right? And I must say I've made a lot of friends at work. Last weekend, we took off to a beach house to party and I must say it was amazing. We danced, laughed, made fun of each other and generally went a little crazy! Good times.
K and I are ok. Like I said, we've been way too busy. That doesn't mean we don't have the time to fight. We somehow manage to squeeze in time for that  -  Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi! ;-) He still cribs about mundane things - me not getting his shirts ironed on time, my cooking which is still a work in progress, and other random things which don't even cross my head. #mygrumpsterboy
Excuse my extremely pointless post, but I felt like if I don't find the time to blog today, I just never will. Will be back soon, hopefully with a better post. Tripping on the "Baby Doll" song from Ragini MMS feat. Sunny Leone. Very catchy!

Stressed!

This is a very stressed out me writing in here. I'm picking up from where I left off in the previous post about how my new job is keeping me busy. Way too busy for my husband's liking. In case you think I am slogging and working a 12 hour job, you are sadly mistaken. I still do only a normal 8 hour shift. It's the timing that is a bitch! I try and leave by 7 pm but most days there are so many small last minute requests, that is next to impossible to say "Sorry you are on your own" and just leave. Like tonight for instance. I was out of office by 7:15 pm, into an auto by 7:20 pm. I reached near ITC Grand Chola and it started pouring. My god! It rained like crazyyyy! To be honest, I enjoyed the auto ride, I liked putting my hand out, feeling the raindrops on my feet through the open auto. In my defense, we don't get to do this in Chennai very often! But I digress.
Anyway, I was at the Tidel Park signal by 7:45 pm. And that is it. The traffic had come to an absolute standstill. Not one inch of traffic seemed to be moving. There was no respite from the rain. So we wait and wait. Thankfully not one word from the auto guy. I was mentally prepared to pay him an extra 10 bucks. And then we moved. Slowly. We got stuck twice at the signal. And then finally it turned green and the auto wouldn't start. Lol. Fml! Seriously. We were first in line and you can imagine the honking behind us. Argh! I wished I could have just picked my bags and started walking. I really would have had it not been for my stupid heels. The auto guy got down, started pushing the auto and kept pushing. I felt sorry for him but I was too tired to volunteer. And then we moved to the other side. He tried his luck for another 10 minutes before it finally started. Phew. Off we sped again. This time I safely reached my destination aka home. I paid him(yes 10 bucks extra) and sped off home. The hubby was lounging in bed in his usual shorts and tee. I washed my hands, flung my dupatta and got to work in the kitchen. I had to quickly make dinner, did dishes, cleaned up the leftovers from morning, reorganized my work space in the kitchen - all this took me about 40 minutes totally. Around 10 minutes to 9, I called K to come eat. He came sulking. He ate. And then started the usual talk of why I couldn't come earlier, why am I coming late everyday etc etc. Off we went into another huge argument, fight or whatever you want to call it. It is so so pissing off. So so annoying. Honestly. I don't have the inclination nor the energy to fight. Really. I'm really  wondering what to do.
According to him, I'm screwing up in all fronts. Home. And maybe work. So easy for him to judge no? After all, according to him, he is the one that does everything. And I do nothing.
I always thought my husband was different from the ordinary men -- that he would encourage me and be happy for me when I do well. Well I guess I was very wrong. Hmmmm. I may not be super woman but I know I am really pushing myself to ensure he is comfy. What's totally pissing off is that he does not acknowledge even 10% of the effort I put in. I know that in this entire life span of ours, I can never please him. And that is how it is probably meant to be.

Feelin' low

It's just one of those days.. ok actually week.. where I've been feeling low. Low about so many things - its been busy nevertheless. Work's been super busy, so busy that I hardly had the time to spend at home and do things around the house. I've never been a clean freak, but even I was quite disgusted at how dirty the house had gotten over the last ten days. The weekend was a bitch, I had to work on Saturday and spent the entire Sunday at the event, hoping I'd get a comp off Monday. Surprise Surprise - I had to show up on Monday also. Wth! :(
Which meant, I hardly had time to catch up - no surprise that the hubby is super pissed, we had a huge argument around it, we've been fighting a lot. Phew.
What's worse is we are off to Delhi this Thursday and I was soooo looking forward to it - to do all that sight seeing/shopping/eating chaat/buying shoes... oh all that general blah.. Suddenly it doesn't excite me anymore.
S-A-D --- hoping things get better. Could do with some hugs now. Hope to be back in a better frame of mind, sorry guys.

Blogging on a lazy, rainy Sunday afternoon!

I hope you lovely people had a wonderful Diwali - My thala Diwali was indeed truly memorable. Family, food, crackers, sweets, new clothes, dressing up and being the centre of attention... Sigh. It's no wonder Diwali is my favoritest festival!
I'm quite grumpy. Festival season is ending, holidays aren't that many, in fact I have no holidays left this year, everything looks gloomy. My job's quite a bitch. 'Nuff said here in this forum. Wanna run -- Wish me luck peeps!
Well my weekend was good. Just sat at home all day today, cooked quite a lot, watched Formula 1(what have u done to me, K?!?).. I just started reading Chetan Bhagat's Revolution 2020.. Believe it or not, I went to Landmark just to get it. I say that because I know quite a few friends who can't stand the dude. I like his style of writing - it's simple and light. His 2 States was quite hilarious. His other books haven't been too bad either...  So decided to give this one a shot.
Otherwise its been a lazy, gloomy, rainy day.... Chennai weather has been SEXY! You don't hear that too often, do ya? I cannot believe that it is the same city that scorches 40 degrees in Summer.
Tonight is perfect weather to gorge on hot yummy Maggi --- unfortunately for me, K HATES maggi. Me thinks I should have put this down as a condition to marry me! :P Too late now!
I think I'll go switch on the music and dance now. Au Revoir!

The married girl says HELLO! :)

Hi lovely readers of my blog!
In case you're wondering, I didn't do a runaway bride at my wedding. I was a good, sweet girl, got married properly and didn't do any drama at my wedding! :P The entire 4 days went by so quickly - let me tell you, the days before the wedding where all the planning and shopping happens, that's where all the fun lies. The actual wedding goes by in a jiffy and before we knew we were safely married to each other. I still remember that moment - I was in my green Oonjal saree, sitting on stage and suddenly I was asked to come sit on Appa's lap, someone thrust the red, koorai saree in my hands, another person said fall at Karthik's feet(Yes yes I had to, stop smirking mister!), and 3 girls dragged me to get dressed in that, I was told I had 5 minutes exactly to get into one of the most complicated ways of tying an already complicated outfit :( There were about 20 mamis gaping me in the room and there was chaos all over. I was so numb to any kind of emotions - I quietly stood, someone finally draped it around me, it was time for me to show up in my mami avatar back on stage, Appa was sitting in his chair fondly looking at me and I was shaking when I sat on his lap... very poignant moment indeed... K looked so tension free, I'm like doesn't he know what he's getting into?? He did somethings that the priest made me do and then tied the three knots.. Bliss... I was married people... truly one of the happiest moments in my entire life.. thank you all for the lovely wishes, gifts blah blah blah..
Honeymoon was awesome - Zuri was an awesome choice, K, thanks so much for indulging! Very luxurious, very serene, very romantic :-) Enjoyed our house boat experience - must do I'd say! K was convinced I'm Mallu wonly thanks to me speaking some rubbish Malyalam and him thinking I was fluent. Shows how much he knows huh, coz the chettas weren't too happy, I got lots of stares for talking gibberish! :P
We got back and guess what? Yours truly got a new job as well! Oh man. Life's been busy that much I can tell you! I work with Global Adjustments in R.A Puram - a lovely office, they're into cross cultural training, relocation, realty services for expatriates and Indians moving back from the West. I'm into training and its been fun so far!! Really liking the work, the place etc. Only thing though is its an all women centre - well not really but the majority of them are women and I'm close to a few of them, should take me a while before I make some good friends..
Our new apartment is good, its come up really well, I will take some pictures soon and put them up for u to see.. Very fun life so far.. Will keep updating this space and will definitely write more about married life in detail. Till then, take care guys! Ciao! Happy weekend! :-)

I'm pissed off!

I don't like to work on a day off - for that matter, nobody does - especially when it's a long weekend. I'm sitting at my work desk and blogging - and nobody can say I'm slacking, coz you know what, I'm not even supposed to be here today! Hee Haw! I'm sure this post doesn't make any sense to you, but you know what? It doesn't to me, either! I'm just wayyyy irritated, bored and angry that I've been forced to come in to work today when I'd planned to chill at home! What better way to vent than to write on my fave blog? :) But seriously, I've been out since 9:30 am and its annoying the heck outta me.

Ode to "buddiness" :-)

I've been wanting to do this for a while now and what better month than August(you know friendship month and all :P) This post is dedicated to the new "buddy" in my life! Lets call him "S". Wondering why he gets a special post in my blog?! Well, he "demanded" that he be mentioned in here. Sigh. I know. But on a more serious note, "S" has been a pillar of support for me these few months. For starters, he got Facebook to work on my iPhone. Hehe. Thats reason enough for him to get space in here coz as you know I'm totally addicted to FB! He has put up with some serious tantrums of mine, always stayed quiet when I kept bashing him up(not literally, silly but you know - I've given him some pretty harsh nicknames such as Blabbermouth, loser and the likes!), been a real awesome colleague at work, given me the "ash, be serious" pep talks when needed and been a lot of fun to hang out with. Its so strange how you become close to some people in such a short period of time. Sometimes, I feel like I've known this person forever and I've only known him for the last three months. "S" is not just an awesome buddy but he's an amazing hubby(I can vouch for it because he goes religously to Bangalore ever single weekend to be with his wife), a fun papa(I've heard him talk endlessly about his darling baby boy) and he's simple and nice at heart! Anyway, it was his birthday last week and I was supposed to have completed this post back then, but couldn't do it for a lot of lame reasons. So, here's wishing you a very very happy birthday month(hey, it counts alright?!) and thanks for looking out for me. Buddies for life! =)
